So bubba got to my sks-d before I did. The front sights and the bayo lug are ground off.

Has anyone ever rebarreled an sks-d?

Who makes an after market barrel for chinese sks?

Or would it be better to get another Chinese sks (not a "d") and swap barrels? Would the barrels be compatible?

Thanks cgn!

The front site base is pinned on. I'm sure you could tap the pins out and install a new fsb, the fsb has the bayo lug on it aswell.

Probably best to just mount a red dot on that one and write it off as a bubba , or sell it, and then buy yourself a non-bubbad one.

Here's some pics from a few years ago when I thought about selling it. I don't think it will be fixable with a mere front sight pin removal and sight replacement.

At present, I'm running a Vortex Sparc red dot on it.

So yes, as someone mentioned, SKS-Ds are worth more. If I buy a cheap normal Chinese sks, and take the barrel off of it, what are the odds that it will fit the SKS-D?

This is fixable, the remaining of the sight base can be removed, after you mesure the barrel diameter and you will see. You can possibly be good with a russian sight base but pretty sure a chinese base can be found.

Remove remainder of sight base, may have to lightly grind it, tap off and replace, The hard part will be finding a replacement, post where, if you do. I'd cut the barrel and replace with a shortened sight base

I'm pretty sure the barrel on this thing is just over restricted length. If I cut the 3 or 4 inches that are ugly off, technically (legally) it should be registered, and then (place my tinfoil hat on) it will be available for the semi automatic gun grabbers who someday will make it back in power (takes tin foil hat off).

There's another problem, which I forgot to mention, check out Bubbas other work:

He fubar'ed the rear sights too, do these just replace too?

The rear sight base have been cutoff, judging from the pic. The base is replaceable but first, front sight must be removed, gas block, stock front ferrule. After, the rear sight base can be slide off as well and replaced after drifting the retaining pins. Need a complete rear sight assembly. Bubba at his best:mad:

i had a "D" exactly like yours , i searched for years to find a front sight assemble to no avail so at the end it was cheaper to sell the bubba "D" and but another .

I wanted to say cut to 18.6" and add shortened sight base, without bayo lug

I have one that the front sight was removed. I called up Marstar and they had a Yugo Sks grenade launcher front sight assembly. Bought it and it fit with no issues. But I put the barrel/action in the freezer and the sight assembly in the oven. Slid on like poop out of a goose. Been a couple of years shouls still be on here somewhere.
