Because if it's done as a kit (like using Black Dog mags),
you can go regular mag capacity.

Or, if it's done permanently and the rifle is re-registered as rimfire,
then you can take it to the woods with any barrel length you want.

If it was a Kit... that would be HOT!

Black Dog AR.22lr mag compatible (somehow).
Similar to the CMMG/Spikes AR conversion kit, but for VZ58. I imagine it'd have to have a few inches of rifling.

But as mentioned above, 7.62x39 is cheap at the moment... If re-barrel, the surplus ammo would need to dry up (7.62x39 would then cost as much as .308) and you'd have a hot seller

It's like making a man into a boy or cutting cutting off the you know what, just why?
Go rebarrel a .22 into a better .22 leave the 858's alone
