I have a Browning BBR in 7mm Rem Mag and am considering rebarreling it into a larger caliber.
I have a 260 coming and want to widen the gap between the two calibers.
My question is is there a 35 caliber or around that size that will be simple to to change calibers. I know I can do almost anything if I just pour lots of money into it but I want something cost effective and a reasonable choice. My thooght was to keep it within the same parent cartridge for simplicity sake.
I also am not intrested in buying a new rifle as I am kind of attached to this old gun.

358 Norma Mag is a good option for you but 338 Win Mag would be better one b/c Norma brass is expensive and hard to get and recoil from 358 NM might be more of a good thing that you could bargain for. I can't imagine the 338 Win Mag being not "enough gun" for anything being hunted in North America.

Thanks gunrunner8 and gunteck, having looked at the cartridge specs it looks like the 338 is the perfect fit for my plan.
Is this a simple matter of spinning on a new barrel or is there more to it such as bolt modification and magazine replacement or modification and one more question any idea of cost in having the work done.
Again thanks

No action/magazine alterations required. Just have a quality barrel accurately installed and bed the action and float the barrel.

358Norma brass is as easy as resizing 338WM brass to 35cal. I ran 50pcs though the other night with no problems at all.

It's just that easy? I don't think so, the 338WM brass is quite bit shorter and 358NM has quite bit longer chamber. Fireforming would be safe b/c the belt but I have a suspicion that the body of 338WM brass stretches and weakens at the same time being fired in 358NM chamber. IMO better way of doing it would be to full lenght resize the 300WM brass in 358NM die and trim it to lenght, I have done it before and it works.

I realized that I had some spare 300WM in the heap, so I took your advice and resized it for the 358NM. It's in the vibrator now and then off to the range. :)

As for the 338 brass I had for the project, I just sized it up to .375" and will use it in my 375/338.
