I was thinking of find a prohibited colt python and buying a 6 or 8 inch barrel. Is there some supplier that could buy me one from the states? Then I could find an owner of a prohibited python, get it rebarreled and re evaulated? This is going to be a hard project, but is it possible for me to set this up?

Changing the barrel on a PYTHON is VERBOTEN! A very nice Colt Python in 6 inches, in Colt Royal Blue is worth [in very nice shape] C$1200.00.

"...This is going to be a hard project..." Not really. Just expensive. Like hatman1793 says, Pythons command very long dollars. Even the evil ones. If you can find one. $1200 is likely a bit light though.
"...find a prohibited Colt Python..." If you don't have the permit, you can't take possession of one. You'd have to find the barrel and make a deal with the seller to have him have a longer barrel installed, on your nickel, and do the paperwork to change its status.

You are better off buying a restricted one to begin with.
