Hey everyone I have an original Martini-Henry in 577-450 and I would like to shoot it more. Making brass for it is a pain. Does anyone have experience in rebarreling these guns? I would prefer to do it in 45-70 to keep it an antique and still use black powder.
Thanks
Mark

The most difficult part to modify is the extractor. It is easiest to get an extractor for the .303 conversion and cut it back to the 45/70 rim than to weld or silver solder the bits on to make the 577/450 extractor fit.

I have one of these on an early short lever Martini. It is very accurate. Don Castle did the rebarrel about thirty years ago.
The barrel thread is very close to the #4 and #1 Lee enfield.
