Rebarreling my Enfield

Okay.. Well, we've run into a bit of a problem.

The forestock I picked up, is made for a No. 4 Mk 1. The reciever I have is a No. 4 Mk 1 & 1/2 (essentially a 2).

As of such, it doesn't fit properly. A cut-out needs to be made for the altered receiver, which this forestock does not have.

Now debating my options.

A) Get new reciever
B) Get new stock
C) Cut the stock to spec, and bed.

When Mk. I stocks are altered for Mk. II receivers, the rear is inletted for the trigger bar, and patches glued in where the ends of the cross strap were. The cross screw and its escutcheons are fitted in the patches.

I vote for send that wood set back because of the poor condition and find a set for No4Mk2. I've seen them on ebay.

Well, I've decided to just, push ahead now, come hell or high water, with what I have. At this point, doing something else I'd be abandoning more or less everything I've done so far, so I'm just going to go ahead with what I have.

After some time with the dremal, micrometer, file and trial and error (easier to make it bigger than it is to make it smaller) I got something I'm happy with.

Another day of drying out and I'm going to oil coat and sand down everything, and hope for a decent uniformity.

Edit: Bleh. Need to find either a longer stock screw, or a shorter stock, or something in between.
