Rebarreling Question - Ruger #1

I'm just wondering about what sort of options I'd have for rebarreling a Ruger #1.

Im familiar with issues with bolt guns like bolt face diameter, cartridge length, etc but are these similiar things I'd need to worry about with a single shot Ruger#1?

I dont currently own any single shots and I've been thinking about building a custom wildcat on a #1.

I haven't worked on Ruger #1 myself but from general experience with single shots something like a #1 should actually be more versatile and easier to convert than most guns.

Rugers are produced with all sorts of chamberings and I think there is pretty well unlimited clearence for cartridge length. The boltface of most falling blocks is entirely flat so that is no issue.

Only real modification is probably going to be the extractor and I'm not too sure how they work on the Ruger. I'm betting that you could order a replacement to fit nearly any basic cartridge that you are going to use though. If not most are pretty easy to modify.

The face of the block is flat. Cartridge length isn't an issue. An extractor cut must be made in the barrel. Barrel shank is 1" in diameter, 16 threads per inch. Ruger factory chamberings involve a number of different case head sizes. There should be a suitable extractor available for most any cartridge. I have rebarrelled a few, and the extractor cut is the only real challenge.

I'm told that for some .50s the block must be shaved down some, not sure if that's where you're going.
