Rebarrelling a rifle questions

It looks as though I will be rebarrelling a Tikka T3 this winter. I have never had this done to a rifle before, but have enlisted the services of a reputable gunsmith to do the work.

A couple questions:

1) What suppliers/companies would recommend for sourcing a high quality hunting (I'm not a target shooter) barrel? Is it necessary to ship one from the U.S. or are there Canadian distributors?
2) What would be a reasonable cost to have the gunsmith perform the barrel switch? (staying with the same bolt face, etc.)

Any other info that might be useful would be appreciated.

Big Horn Sales in Houston, BC have quality barrels on hand as do other dealers in Canada. You do not have to go through the added hassle of importing from the US. Quality contoured barrels can cost $450 and up.

To thread, chamber, correctly headspace, cut, crown and stamp the caliber on a stainless contoured non fluted barrel in most calibers will vary from smith to smith. I would charge $250. Barrel finish or stock work would add to that cost.
 
I would look at a Gaillard or Ron Smith barrel (I have both). They're Canadian makers and have very good reputations. There may be come caliber restrictions (ie Ron doesn't offer .366" barrels and Ted may not offer all calibers either) but if it's something fairly common like 6.5mm, 7mm, .e08", .338" etc then they can probably help you out.
 
Gary at bighorn sales has by far the best selection of barrels in Canada, and has very competitive prices too.
As far as installing it you'll be around that $250-$275 mark.
