Rebore or rebarrel

On a modern bolt action rifle and cartridge a rebore is highly over rated in my opinion. On old semi collectible lever actions a rebore is often the best option.

Agree with Dennis (Guntech). Just from a bit of looking, lots easier to get a new barrel installed than old rebored. Not many smiths doing rebores.

I don't know why people seem to overlook 220s in the 308 Win. The 30-40 Krag shines with them at around 40,000 CUP, and any 308 chambered rifle is proofed to something past 65,000 CUP.

I had an old buddy in Alaska who hunted blacktails on Chicagoff Island with his Rem 700 308 Win stuffed full of handloaded 220 Rem Core Locks and IMR4320. Why? "Just in case.... :) "

Already have a 308. Im just basically filling in gaps in the caliber lineup and dont really have a place to use a 338 lapua. Ive been curious about the lil fed for sometime

Its only the cost of a barrel and a set of dies and gauges to satisfy my curiousity.

Think ill just buy a new barrel
