Reccomend a powder?

Hey all,
I'm looking to achieve 3250fps+ out of a 30-06 150gr. bullet and 3000fps+ out of a 175gr. bullet. I am using IMR 4350, and I get reasonable results (just over 3000) but, I WANT MORE;) lol! I get 3500ish with 110gr, and I would like to get better performance out of my loads as I increase bullet weight.

up till now I have just loaded a sampling (usually in half grain increments from min loads to 2 gr. over max loads) and back off half a grain when I start to mushroom the primer pocket, as this would make the shell un-reloadable. There has got to be a more "scientific" way.

So far my own research shows that with IMR 4895 I can reach 3005 fps with a 150 gr. bullet @ 56,000psi (Hodgdons' web site) And I can get 2741fps with a 175gr bullet

I don't actually go till it mushrooms

These numbers are some diff from your 1st posting above, stick to them, forget the psi numbers, you have NO WAY of measuring psi!
1st post above says you do, my advice DON"T!

There are two ways to achieve the ballistics you are after. First and cheapest is to sell your '06 and buy a .300 magnum, Ultra or a ...300/378. The next way you can do it will cost you some money, but here goes. Purchase a 30" barrel, chamber it for the .30/06 AI, and have the gunsmith cut the lead so that you can seat the bullet in such a way that no part of the bullet extends into the powder capacity.

FOR A 30-06 3100 fps WITH 165 GRAIN AND ABOVE WEIGHT BULLET WAY TOO HOT. imho

WHATS WRONG WITH 2500 FPS SAVES THE RIFLE AND BRASS.

Some how I doubt the deer or moose can tell the difference of a few hundred foot pounds of energy. Shot placement counts.

National Match course at 1000 yards use velocities less than you are asking.

Hey all,

I'm looking to achieve 3250fps+ out of a 30-06 150gr. bullet and 3000fps+ out of a 175gr. bullet. I am using IMR 4350, and I get resonable results (just over 3000) but, I WANT MORE;) lol! I get 3500ish with 110gr, and I would like to get better performance out of my loads as I increase bullet weight.

In a perfect world I would get 3500fps out of everything I load, I realize that isn't gonna happen. I am willing to change powder, shot heck I'll try anything...... Well not anything I don't want to get a 300 or 7mm Mag......

This would be for hunting loads, I currently stick with the Nosler and hornady lines of bullets, but I am not married to them.

I am shooting a tika T-3, does anybody know what the "max" pressure is or the pressure should I should stay away from.... up till now I have just loaded a sampling (usually in half grain incrementsfrom min loads to 2 gr. over max loads) and back off half a grain when I start to mushroom the primer pocket, as this would make the shell un-reloadable. There has got to be a more "scientific" way. This is the way I was taught how to reload for max performance, it does work but what the heck, I figgured it wouldn't hurt to ask:)

tks

All I would tell you is that those velocities may be attainable....once.
it's your health and face, fingers etc, just don't shoot those loads around anybody else.

Oh come on guys, let the fellow have his fun.

Who are we to try and prevent this candidate for the Darwin Awards from reaching for the gold ring? :jerkit:
