I have a Norc JW25a, and it has scope mounts machined in the reciever.

However, people report that larger, or even medium size scopes have issues with clearance on the bolt or even on the rear sight. Its a Mauser copy, so not the same as a modern bolt gun.

I would think some sort of riser mount would help, but I don't want to go too high as pics I have seen make it look funny.

I am thinking something like an old school Mosin Nagant sniper style one, with the straight tube?

I don't want to spend lots of money on it, but I don't just want the cheapest either as I could use it on other rimfires in the future.

Also, can I use a handgun scope? whats the difference? air rifle scope? crossbow scope?

thanx y'all :)

You want a rimfire scope as the parallax is set at 50m and they are typically small like what you are looking for.

Expensive - Leupold VX1 Rimfire 2-7x28 = $260
Mid Priced - Nikon Prostaff Rimfire 4x32 or 3-9x32 = $150
Low End - Bushnell Banner Shotgun 3-9x32 or 4x32 = $80-$100
Bottom End - Simmons 22 Mag 4x32 or 3-9x32 = $50

I have used all of these, and I really like the Nikon offerings for the money. The Bushnells are good for the money as well, but I honestly think the Simmons 22 mag series are just as good for less money. The 22 mag series by Simmons is highly regarded as the best scope you can buy for the money, however many will agree that you do get what you pay for in optics.
