Thank you everyone for your comments and safety concerns.

I'll post my first range results as soon as I can, I'm sure this gun will out shoot me for a long time to come. I knew I would not learn to improve my shooting if the gun itself was not accurate. I went with the long slide because I want to shoot at an average of 25 yrds.

cheers,
Leif

Like the saying goes: "If your gonna do something right, get it right the first time around"
Surely did that with your newly acquired STI. Agree totally with your premise to start off with a piece that is proven accurate. This way you can fully focus on your techniques and develope shooting discipline.
Am such a fan of 1911's, my opinions are definitely biased. Great first gun. Enjoy shooting her - lots!!!!!!
BTW, great pics - from the comments made on your finger - looks like we all admire good manicuring!!!!!

Well I could not wait any longer...

Dropped in at the range on my lunch hour, time enough to shoot a box worth.

Very nice smooth action on this gun! Recoil was a bit more than I expected but still very manageable.

I was rushing myself :ar15: so results on paper were not very impressive. The powder residue on the crown was very uniform so any accuracy issues is not a fault of the gun.

Cheap range ammo and shaky hands, I have a lot of practice ahead of me.
Here are the resuls of my first 16 rounds at 10m and then 25m

Nothing wrong with those targets, especially for a first pistol. Don't worry about the safety nazi's, they like to hear themselves speaking. Should've heard the uproar when I took
<--- this picture ;)

Well the first one is always the hardest to get, then the others all come too easy! I only wanted 2 and now I'm up to 9 and I can't stop! It's an addiction. I love the fact that I can goto the range and say, Hummm which ones will I bring today? :D
