Hey guys-hoping the right eyes fall on this post...
I recently acquired an old Wingmaster that had the top of it's receiver drilled/tapped for a scope rail. Whoever did it-I applaud how cleanly it was done, but I want this old girl as close to original as possible. I removed the rail, and there are 4 holes to be addressed. I keep a wide variety of sample machine screws (metric and imperial) for challenges like this-determining the thread pitch. Near as I can tell, they're 6-40 screws. The 6 looks correct, but my sample screw is a 6-32 and the threads are not fine enough. If memory serves, there is also a 6-48....but until I confirm (this week) I'm going with 6-40.
Brownell's list both 6-40 and 6-48, I'm wondering if anyone knows of a source for these here in Canada? I believe my LGS deals with Brownell's and I can put an order in (they used to, anyway) but my preference would be to support a Canadian retailer, ideally, a CGN sponsor.
Filler screws bring nobody any joy, even when installed...it's more like an itch scratched. lol However, it's today's challenge, hoping someone here can advise.
Thanks!
