does somebody tried epoxy paint on a receiver?
results????
i have already tried: stove paint,engine paint on a degreased and sandblasted surface.these all came off when solvent or oil was applied...
i heard about duracoat,armcoat,etc...and i'm about to try this option but epoxy paint came to my mind and i was wondering if someone tried it and which results it gave.
let me know,thanks!

I've only painted one shotgun and that was with Duracoat.
Other than building up the high wear areas it has worked as advertised.
As these finishes were designed with firearms in mind (temperatures, oils, etc..) why would you go with anything else?
Alternates may work.... or they may not.... Its not worth my time to "fix" a bad paint job if I used the wrong paint.

Epoxy tends to go on too thick and will cause clearence issues.
Use a product designed for guns and you will be happy with the final product.
I have used brownells gunkote and baking laquer with fantstic results and other here have posted positive results from both Duracoat and armcoat. So why not use what works and has a proven track record?

i tried engine paint,followed carefully the instructions and applied 4 or 5 layers and bake 2 hours at 300 F.let the thing cooled and applied krown t32 lube.the coating went off easealy...

I may be missing the point here but when I went to school they taught us that bluing was for steel and anodizing or powder coat was for aluminum. With steel polish the part and take it to a gunsmith most will charge you about $40 to dip it in his tank. For aluminum take it to a platter or some one that powder coats engine or bike parts. Pretty cheap and best of all it lasts. Rod

Armacoat is a two part epoxy paint that is sprayed on. It's very thin no worries painting the inside of an action etc, paint the bolt and bolt race ways. I've painted a few rifles so far and no greif at all. A great product :)
