Has anyone else noticed the recent decline in ammo prices?.....or at least more widespread, frequent and better sales.

I've recently seen case lots of factory 9mm for $250, .45acp for $420 and CCI minimags @ $7.99 a box. Has supply outstripped demand? With Obama gone have our American cousins stopped stockpiling/hoarding?

Regardless of why, it would be nice if the trend continues. :d

OTOH, it makes me a little hesitant to jump on a sale........wondering if will the next one that comes along be better.

With Trump being pro-gun, the frenzied US buying is subsiding and manufacturers are now stuck with surplus.

This applies to guns as well.

I would buy it cheap and stack it deep because after the next US election prices will climb again.

It's exactly as you said, supply has surpassed demand. Hence why almost every major ammo manufacturer put on really good rebates like federal, Winchester & Remington.
Plus if you look at a large retailer like Cabelas, they've emailed me every single day since boxing day to let me known their "sale has been extended!"
There's no point waiting for the bottom of the barrel dirt cheap ammo sale, buy what you can while you can.
Hell, I still buy Pmags just incase the time comes we see another 2013-2014 where pmag prices were over 50 bucks per mag.
Worst case, you can always sell the ammo, it retains value reasonably well.

Ive noticed the better prices, I'll try to stock up whenever I can. I just wish that surplus ammo would drop somewhat, I hummed and hawed at the last opportunity.

I've noticed as well. I think Tenda has a big part in that. It seems they drop their prices first and all the others match it after.

Although one thing thats still going up in price is Milsurps. Both guns and ammo. Seems to always slowly creep up and up every time I buy a crate or two...

Yea, surplus x39 and x54 is dried up for the time being! As I just posted in the ammo section, north Sylva has none, nor marstar, or Westrifle. Hopefully someone will be bringing in some soon!

I'm going to start reloading my own soon, hopefully another shipment of surplus will arrive in the near future.

The "specialty" rimfire ammo like .17 hmr hasn't come down at all (except Tenda). In the wild at the LGS still north of $20 a box.
I have noticed .223 and 9mm have crept down a bit.

Instead of lower prices due to market conditions we are seeing more "sales".
Better then the non stop rising prices I guess that we have seen for the last 5 plus years...... I guess they couldn't go up for ever.
Even on sale a price of "cheap" bulk .22lr is still twice the price of the good old days.

I’ve recently started to reload, but still bought 3000rds of 9mm federal during the recent rebate. (Still waiting on my cheque, likely to buy more ammo, components, or another pistol)

Anything under $260/1000 and I’ll buy it to keep my factory stockpile around 5000. Then it seems like I’m shooting for free ;)

I have been out of the reloading game for about 2 years now, I had to sell my reloading setup to pay a lawyers bill related to my divorce. I haven't priced powder or components in a long time. Is this trend also reflective in reloading supplies?

Tenda has been beating on my credit card pretty good the past few weeks with their sales.

Yeah, that deal they had on the 300 round can of .45 auto was unbeatable. Picked up 600 rounds for $250 and a few trigger locks to hit the $300 minimum for free shipping. Just waiting on the rebate check for $60 USD.

I'm finding that while ammo prices have come down recently, reloading components like primers, and bullets seem to be going up.
