This is my latest purchase from one fine Canadian Barrel maker who is no longer shooting Benchrest.

Leupold 45x45 Competition frozen by Gene Bukys with the Bukys external adjustable mounts. In short range BR one of the weakest links is optics holding 100% POA. There is only one scope company who currently guarantees (from my knowledge) there optics will hold 100% and that is MARCH. They run a hefty chunk of change somewhere in the 2300.00 US mark. This setup was mounted on his rifle but never made the trip to the range. If I had to get it done myself the cost is around 1500.00US including scope. Well it was allready in Canada and for basically just the cost of the optics. Thanks TG.

I said to myself if I ever had a scope issue this was the route I would go. Fixing the inerds solid and using externally adjustable mounts. There is not the luxury of fast adjustments when moving from 100 to 200 and positive stops but the nice thing is I have yet to see a scope that one can adjust the bullet impact to be EXACTLY where you want it. This mount allows that. With use I will get a better feel of how much to turn the elevation to get me where I want when changing yardages.

Just wanted to share some of the extremes BR shooters will go to in aiding there pursuit of the smallest groups possible.

The freezing is reversible in this mod. Gene Bukys is the current World BR Champion for those in the wonder......

Pretty much.

The scope sells for around $995.00-999.00 US. The freezing I believe is 200.00 US and the mount 300.00 US. Gene only freezes the 45x Competition. The process is reversible if you want the turrets put back in place. You recieve the turrets back with the scope.

He does sell 1" mounts for 1" tubes if you can find someone to freeze a scope for you. He makes a mount for Davidson type bases and the one shown on my rifle. The base that screws directly to the action is round. It fits round and flat actions like Bat, Farley, Borden etc. The only thing done different is gluing/bedding the mount to the top of the action with JB weld. After it cures for a day you torque it down. Then you mount the rail with the rings on it to the front spring bar which is preloaded when all is assembled. Mount the scope, boresite, and away you go.

For score shooters it is perfect cause you can get that thing set up to punch the x-dot. None of this well that is as close as I can get it.
 
The next thing you know they will all be using Unertls, Lymans, Litcherts, Feckers, with ext. adj., you know, there really isn't anything new under the sun.
