Seems like retailer are receiving a bunch of restricted M1 carbine, any of you guy having bought some mind to share pic and info? Im considering picking up one to add to my collection and im curious about the provenance and historical value of those

Once I get home this weekend I will be able to share some pics. From what I have heard they came from Israel? Wouldn't surprise me, we have been getting lots of surplus from them recently. Plus there was 2 different versions brought in. One with the wood stock and the other with some synthetic stock that they put them in. They are also all supposedly from the early 40s

If you are looking for decent shooter example of a US M1 Carbine then the Israeli surplus carbines at Epps are a reasonable deal. They show a mix of GI parts, and seem to have been taken care of.

Take a close look when choosing one though. Some of the ones with Type 2 rear sights (milled / adjustable) have the windage knob ground down and the rear aperture is spot welded to the 100 yard position.

Although they may not necessarily be considered a collectible, they are great example for someone looking to try out a neat firearm.

I think my Auto Ordinance is a pretty decent shooter. The Universal on the other hand , that is a different story

Alright thanks for the info, im more looking for a nice collector one as opposed to a shooter grade one.

Wood stocks are Italian imports. Most have butchered stocks.

What did the italian used them for? I dont mind a well used stock. Give the rifle a bit characer

I haven't seen any of the wood stock ones myself but I did pick up an Isaeli surplus one. After hours of cleaning what looked like years of caked on carbon and sludge I was left with a pretty decent rifle. Mixed bag of parts though. Postal Meter receiver, IBM barrel, inland trigger assembly and so on. Sorry I can't post a pic.
Looking forward to range day with it.

There is picture of one (if it's the same lot that North Sylva brought in with prohib mags) on shooterschoice.ca's website. Its under shop/new firearms.
