Looking at picking up the t81 sr. Heard a lot of mixed thing’s curious to hear your opinions on it. They are on sale right now on tac imports and comes with the gen 2 stock so the broken stock issue shouldn’t be a concern. What accuracy are we getting with the NPZ scope on it? Any comments about the thin stamped receiver metal where the mount attaches causing fly aways? I understand it’s not supposed to be a tac driver with sub MOA but curious to hear your experiences with it regarding accuracy reliability and if it’s work the price. Thx

Of corse it’s a possibility but there coming after all semi autos so If it’s a good rifle it’s probably worth the risk

Is it worth it? for 1000$ yes it is, if you're worried about accuracy so much then don't bother buying it, buy something that's actually accurate but be willing to pay 2x the price.

Its roughly a 2 moa rifle, not really a tack driver. it will outshoot your skills regardless.

Its a novelty firearm like the SKS/CZ858/type 81. Yes its reliable enough, but its main selling point is its aesthetics and caliber.
Complaining about optic accuracy after purchase would be like complaining about an AR not being accurate because the optic was on the handguard. especially since optics are not the designs primary goal.

If you want it, and can justify it, buy it, you'll enjoy it, if its banned or not is a later problem, once you own it, its yours to keep regardless of the ban.
You'd be amazed how many friends I take to the range just because they didn't buy a handgun when they had the chance.

If you do end up buying an optic for it, just check zero and torque your screws properly. Use good quality hardware and mounts (not china/amazon/aliexpress stuff) and you should be fine.
Most drilled and tapped mounts on other firearms use hardware about the same size anyways.
:)

^ Yours to keep regardless of the ban? Not necessarily. Guns have been banned before AND confiscated. I see no reason to think that won't happen again at some point... But I don't think fear of a ban is a good reason to not buy a gun if you can afford it and want it.

I love the idea of having another 7.62x39 rifle in the stable, but the prices on the T81 always kept me away. With everything else getting more expensive and the SR being "on sale" (seems that sale price has been in place forever) I am again tempted by them, but still can't justify the upcharge over an SKS for a gun that fills the exact same niche.

Ok thanks! Yeah 2MOA is plenty accurate in my opinion for a semi auto in 7.62x39. I’ve heard some complaints that since it’s a stamped receiver the side mount flexes a bit which throws off the POI and causes fly aways. Not sure if this is true or not but I would be running the NPZ scope and mount that comes with with it. I believe the scope to be good quality but I’ve never met anyone who’s ever owned one.

I would suggest a read of "Murray 3-D"'s posts on the various type 81's. Seems he's owned all versions and tested them pretty extensively. Here's a couple sub-forums and posts to get you started:

Thanks I just have it a read. Seems like I’m more on the side of picking one up. That or an svt 40 lol
