Hence I said " click and clack". Granted, the cocking sound is a LOT quieter!
As much as it sounds like I'm knocking this gun, I'm not! I wish I didn't sell mine. I loved the gun for the craftsmanship. In the end, knowing its faults and virtues, i knew the M8 would be more of a safe queen than a daily shooter. It was going to be worth more in clean shape than worn and scratched up, so I traded for something else I would use.

And Tobin, I was at Lever Arms in the early days too. I still remember my first P220 European model costing $430.
The place looked like something out of a genie's treasure cave!

Totally. I bought my first hand gun from Lever in 86/87. He had every Smith Colt and Ruger model in every barrel length available, in addition to all the unique stuff. it was the first place i held a CZ75. I recall seeing an H&H 303 side by side which would have made quite the collector, although I did not appreciate what it was at the time.
 
I bought a P7M8 a few years back. It's a great looking gun and I so wanted to enjoy shooting it but I just didn't like it, and none of my friends at the range liked shooting it either. So it was sold.
 
I think most of these guns are safe queens, I have a lot of them, If you want to talk about safe queens, how about a AMT Automag 11, trigger is so bad it makes Norinco's seem like match trigger,
I should strip it down and see what is so hard on it, but too many projects and too tired, but it shoots great otherwise, that it out about once a year, just so it don't feel left out.
The 1st PSP I had seemed to be a bit smoother, but it has been a while.
 
Just a quick off-topic question, these come with barrel length of 105mm, correct? So they are prohibited, correct?
 
No, they just squeek in at restricted, I think the cfc flipped a coin on this one, I have mine in brushed nickel with 6 mags and won't ever sell it.

The P7 series were originally marketed as having a barrel length of 105mm. The muzzle crowning variability produced barrel lengths between 105mm - 107mm. There are 3 separate FRT entries for each of the P7 models as a result; one for each of 105mm, 106mm and 107mm barrel lengths.

There are some that measure 105mm exactly and remain prohib class (12.6) as a result, yet others fall within the restricted class with barrels greater than 105mm.
 
Just the compact size and restricted status make these a neat gun to own. I keep thinking I should sell mine but everytime I take it out of the safe and handle it back in it goes! ;)
 
I worked with the Polezei over seas . They were issued them. they were not fans. I did owned the 13 shot version back in the day. I agree you have to loosen your grip after the initial pull and yes I sold it as well many years ago for about $500. DOH!
 
Interesting engineering exercise with impeccable build quality. Turd of a shooters gun. That said, it’s one of the only ones I regret selling, at least for the price I sold!

Interesting. Do you by any chance know which P7 model variation is 105mm?
 
I have one of the P7 PSP versions.

147 grain ammo. Don't bother using 147 in these pistols. Muzzle flip and heats up really quick. The pistol doesn't seem to like that weight. Considering it's vintage, that's not a big surprise.

124 ammo that a buddy had and they shoot like a laser.

The hand grip. One neat feature was that when the pistol goes into lock back, you can put in a mag and just squeeze the grip. The slide will release forward. Kind of fun and cool. The pistol version of the HK slap?

I like mine. Very interesting engineering, very accurate with the right ammo (fixed barrel, not tilting or rotating), excellent build quality. The very small size with just making restricted is also a positive in terms of uniqueness. Negatives are it heats up quick, and doesn't like heavier 9mm ammo. Along with cost and lack of availability. They are now collector pieces.

Well, FWIW mine is a German police surplus PSP and the certificate gives the barrel as 107mm although the HK manual in the case says 105 under "specifications". As stated by passengerseven above I think all P7's were listed by the manufacturer as having 105mm barrels.....some just ended up a bit longer. It's like how there are a few supposedly 4" S&W revolvers around too that just squeak in over the 105mm mark and are registered as restricted.

I have had a few, the current one is the M13, they all have measured out as +/-106 mm, restricted, I have verified a few that where registered as 12-6 because when C68 came in, a lot of people did not know to check the length and the RCMP just listed them as 4 in 105mm back in the day when it did not matter, but they where over 105 mm, I have never run into a 105mm one , but could be some out there.
I seem to remember the manual saying don't use heavy ammo.
Mine sits in the safe most of the time, have to remember to relax the grip, it shoots good , if I do my thing, but I am getting to that age where open sights give me some trouble. paint on front sight works, but I am not going to paint this one , that is what the Norinco's are for.

On a side note, s-w 39's 9mm, I see a few of them that over 105 mm, hence restricted.
Sold 2 this year, one 105, the other 105.7mm, os it was restricted length, funny thing is the fellow I sold it to, before I checked it, did not want to bother having me change the statius on it, said it did not matter to him, he ended up with a hell of a deal, that is fine, I made my 25%

I owned 3 P7M8 at one point. I now only own one that was hardchromed by Roger Kotanko. I'm keeping that one!

I'm in a similar situation as you.....sold off my M8 and M13 but kept my PSP which was hard chromed by Roger Kotanko (Dark International) as well. The M13 had been reclassified from prohib to restricted by its previous owner.
