Recent RPAL waiting period.

I don't know how typical my wait time is but for those interested my application was received April 5/2016 and my license was issued May 17/2016. Pretty quick. Also of interest is it appears my references were not contacted (only spoke to one of them yesterday, the other is out of town on business and told me he would text me if they contacted him). This surprised me. Typical of other's experience?

My references weren't contacted either. OR myself. OR my wife. And RPAL was issued in 28 days. First time applicant from Alberta. This all took place March-April of this year.

Mine took over 6 months. They contacted my references, one of them is an older woman who happens to have a bit of a stutter, so they thought she was intoxicated and hung up on her. 1 month later they sent me a letter by mail saying I needed to submit new references. So I literally waited from October until early April. Funny with all the gun politics happening that they aren't even checking references for all the whack jobs out there. Makes me want to start only dealing in face to face transactions for the EE so I know I'm not selling to a gang member or something.

Are you guys in a job where you need a secret or above security clearance? It's the same people doing the background checks so they might already had yours. Just an scenario I can think of...

mine is a month tomorrow , slightly different as its a upgrade from pal to rpal ,,so no idea how long it will be ,my pal took about a month

May have something to do with it. I am a teacher so we already have Criminal Record Background checks and Child Abuse registry checks completed automatically for our jobs.

I recently used the online application process for my RPAL renewal and mine was in my mailbox 9 days later. Excellent service and now I am good until 2021.

I sent my rpal papers Apr 19 th. They received it April 20. My check was cashed yesterday. Still awaiting my upgrade so I can buy a few more toys

Mine took a couple months, but I blame my references for not answering their phones...otherwise once they called the Miramachi office my license was finished up and mailed the next day.

Sent the online renewal in on Jan 19th, received my new RPal 4 days after it expired on April 27th.
