Hi
Just wondering if anyone in Canada has received their T C Icon, Venture , or Dimension back yet, from the latest recall requiring the trigger assembly to be replaced
I know in the States turn around time is about a week
Mine has been awaiting the recall trigger assembly for over 4 months at the T C Warranty depot in Canada
Still waiting

The Thompson Center recall applies to ALL Icon, Venture , and Dimension Firearms manufactured prior to June 13, 2013.
Issue is that when closing the bolt the safety may disengage .The fix is that the whole trigger assembly has to be replaced
T C states that one should cease to use the rifle immediately and return it to a T C recall depot due to safety concerns. Mine is sitting at Murray Charltons Enterprises in B.C. for 4 months already
If you check his web site you will see that at present he is not accepting the affected firearms to be returned
He states that shipping to him was on hold effective July 26, 2013 and that an update regarding shipping was to be issued by T C on or about Aug 3, 2013
Still awaiting update as of Nov 24

Just a comment on T.C. Support for Canadians, there is none, I had an extractor for an Encore on order from Murray Charlton for 6 months, Smith and Wesson (T.C.) had it in stock in the states (I phoned their order desk) but they would not explain why they would not ship one to Murray Charlton or what the delay was and gave me the email brush off (gave me a file # and said they would look into it) , I finally sold the barrel at a loss. I will not buy another T.C. Or Smith and Wesson product. I would try and find out if the replacement trigger is available before I sent them my rifle. It might be fun if with the help of this site if you could get enough names together and tell T.C.your considering a class action. T.C. Gave me a list of Canadian suppliers the only one who tries to carry parts is Murray Charlton, so I think the problem is Stateside.

My first round of warranty with Murray went quickly (mags not feeding) albeit the problem still somewhat exists (much better but not perfect).
Considering the recall is for every bolt gun they ever made I do not imagine it will be easy for them to provide the parts/manpower to fix this quickly...
Resale was bad enough on these guns (mag issues) but with this if you own it now your stuck with it...
What a great excuse to buy a new rifle:)

You are right. I did contact T C ( Smith and Wesson ) in the US and first was basically told I would have to deal with Murray Charlton - no help from the T C email.
I than contacted the person by phone at Smith and Wesson who deals with International sales and was told the problem was that no trigger assemblies had been shipped to Murray Charlton as of Nov 1, 2013 due to the fact that they were waiting for the US State Dept. to issue a export permit for shipping firearm parts to Canada to cover the recall
By the way the gentleman that I dealt with , Jeff Croze was very helpful
I followed up once again with Jeff in November 6, and was told that the trigger assemblies have in fact been shipped to Murray Charlton and should arrive in one week provided no delays at the border
The trigger assemblies should be there by now - so let's see how long this is going to take to get resolved
I did notify S & W that service for T C in Canada was less than non existent and that many retailers were dropping the T C line for this reason

Just spoke to Charlton today and they confirmed the triggers were due to arrive in the next week. They will install them in the order the rifles were shipped. Mine's been there since early July. If the rifle wasn't so damned accurate, I would have had them return it to me long ago. The woman I spoke felt I would have it back before Christmas.

TC's are very accurate. S&W are behind this company now so they are the culprits. I'm sure the state side owners got their rifles fixed tut sweet. Don't buy the state dept. export approval. You can sell the firearm in Canada, but you can't ship parts? Gotta be kidding! This delay will cause a lot of potential buyers to pass on their products.

Emails and phone calls to TC and S&W got relatively indifferent responses. Not a great way to service a product.

In the end, I'll get it back and I'll keep it cause I do like the rifle.

any word if they have received the triggers and have started repairs???? I have a venture that's been sitting in the safe for a few of years and haven't fired it yet since new. I never sent it in for the first safety recall and would like to send it in and get them both done at the same time and shoot it in the new year.
contact info would be appreciated as well.

found the contact info. link on their site says to "not ship firearms before January 1 2014" referring to T/C recall, hoping that means they have the triggers and are starting repairs.

Murray Charlton in British Columbia has posted new instructions for sending in recall firearms. You can check his web site at Murray Charlton Enterprises
He does not want any sent in before Jan 1, 2014.
He should have the triggers by now. I spoke to S&W the first week of Nov. and they said they were shipping that week
I would imagine he has the triggers by now otherwise he would not be accepting recall firearms.
He put a hold on shipping effective July 26 2013 until now

You will have to be careful when purchasing . I know that T C states that the problem was with rifles manufactured prior to June 13,2013.
The T C web site shows you how to know if the rifle has had the recall done
However while some dealers were removing them from the shelf and not selling until the recall was completed, others were continuing to sell
I did contact S & W in regard to retailers continuing to sell rifles that T C considered as unsafe.
The answer given was that they would not comment on this and they had no control over how retailers handled the issue.
Can't comment on how they shoot as my new Icon has been at the warranty depot awaiting the recall fix since July

I was asking a dealer recently about the rifles he had on the shelf and he flat out told me " it's not his problem and is up to the customer to know if it needs any work done to it and to send it out themselves." i'll never go into that shop again just because of his answer to my question and flat out disreguard to the safety concerns from S&W........
it was a shop in Westport ontario

I'm assuming any new production rifles will already have the necessary corrections? I see they're chambering the venture in 6'5x55 now. Other than the glitches, how do these rifles shoot?

My .243 is accurate as hell!

Looks like I lucked out: Murray Charlton Enterprises is within an hour's drive of my home. Thanks for the head's up, I will give them a call in the new year and see when they have time to look at mine, until then it'll sit with me...

Murray sent me an email, He's asked not to ship anything until Jan.4th.
I believe they have the parts now.
They are mailing me a prepaid waybill to ship it.

As for accuracy, my 30/06 is an inch or slightly better with the right ammo - if I do my part.
If they would make a weathershield 6.5x55 I'd own it.

As of last Thurs. Charleton had not rec'd any triggers or parts. They told me they had the customs paperwork and were waiting. I doubt I will get my Icon back before Xmas but will followup in the next few days. As I said before, if the rifle wasn't so damn accurate, I would have sold it.

TC & S&W have treated Cdn. customers like crap. Bad communication and even worse service. Hope they choke on the bad triggers/safeties.
