Looking for what your experience is for a ballpark cost to have a rifle rechambered.

I have my eye on a 6.5 CM but if I buy it I would rechamber it to .260 rem so I only have to load one cartridge.

Any ballpark numbers? Would this cost $300? $500? $800??

I have no experience with this thank you.

I paid about 250 the last time I got a rifle re-chambered, unfortunately the guy has since passed. I would ask Casey at Tactical Ordinance, He may have that reamer ( His shop is in the GTA area)

I would want to be real sure the 260 reamer would clean up the CM chamber. If it would, a hundred bucks, tops. If it wouldn't, double that since the barrel would have to be set back. If in a rifle with an extractor cut, another fifty bucks, with the setback. I think it would clean up.

I wouldn't chamber it without setting the barrel back... it's too close and you would be wasting your time. Nothing more frustrating as chambering it and then when fired you see you need to set it back...

Yeah, that's the big issue. I think the nominal size is close but the actual dimensions may, of course, vary. The other problem is, both cartridges have minimal body taper so, if there is much difference, you might have to set back quite a ways. I haven't even measured my own reamers to see what the difference might be. Personally, I prefer to have different chamberings just because I'm too likely to mix up ammunition otherwise. So, I would leave the CM alone and buy a set of dies (a lot cheaper than re-chambering).

I think he already owns a .260 Remington... but he may not realize he will have to keep brass separately for each rifle and size differently for each rifle...
