Ok I am looking at taking a beat up winchester model 88. This is the one I posted about before where a previous owner had etched his social insurance number in the reciever. The stock is beat up as well.

I am looking at having the barrel cut down to 18 inches (will keep it legal), put apature sites on it and then having it re-chambered for either 358 winchester or 338 federal.

Looking at making a slightly unique bush gun.
If the choice was yours which one would you choose and why.

You will have to have the barrel rebored.I had a M100 rebored from 308 to 358.Just love it !.I'd go with reboreing and rechambering to 358.Should cost about $500 mark.

Definitely 358 Winchester -- 250 gr bullets at 2300 fps from an 18 1/2" barrel are very impressive on really big game!

Been there and done that in a rebored Rem Model 600.
