Rechambering an antique to 25 acp

My greatest concern is that people are getting into antiques to re-chamber to modern ammuntion to circumvent restricted and prohibited laws. It has nothing to do with they love of antique guns. This will bite us all in the ass eventually

If you're breaking the law an antique becomes a firearm. If you're not breaking the law and want to shoot a gun that requires no registration or CFO approved range to shoot at why not? I didn't buy my webley or m1892 to take to the range (although I do) but rather to have a nice old gun which I can shoot with lesser restrictions. There is no sugar-coating it. Most people interested in antique handguns intend on shooting them rather than collecting them.

I think we need to remember that regardless of the reasons why we get into antiques we are mostly a group of respectfull and carefull people. Very few unsavoury types have the patience to play with the guns that we do on a daily basis.

So then the issue is, if the minority is going to screw it up due to their existance and eventual actions, why shouldn't the majority enjoy things while they can. This logic could be spun so that no one should own semi auto guns because someone might use one to commit a crime and get them banned. I know that's not what you're saying, but it uses the same logic.

My intent on rechambering is to make my gun functional with some sort of relatively common ammo. I don't plan to shoot it much, since i don't think it would function for long without most of the other parts finally giving up the ghost and it ceasing to function, but I view it as a fun project. On the one hand I can respect that chambering it in 25 auto could be percieved as "dangerous" but on the other, I don't see why rechambering it to a PITA to reload and shoot wildcat cartridge is any better.

True enough, considering the time, money and effort required to get this to work are going to far exceed what it would cost to just buy a glock/cz/new black pistol and have absolutely none of the benefits of the above.

And if the arguement is then that the law won't care about logic and will simply attempt to prosecute anyone rechambering... then it sounds to me like the law has a hard on for antiques and our problem is a lot bigger than avoiding rechambering to certain calibers.


If someone has a suggestion for a center fire sub 32 cal bullet that is either commercially available or easily wildcatted using commercially available brass, bullets and dies then feel free to suggest it. Rechambering the gun is the same amount of work regardless, it's the reloading that will vary.

Sooner or later, we all are going to have to face the truth: the Government is lying through its teeth.

The INTENT of the law (stated in the Preamble to the Act) is to control crime. What it ACTUALLY does is create criminals, statrting with innocent law-abiding citizens. The HIDDEN INTENT of the law (ask any socialist or 'liberal' is to criminalise the possession and use of any and all firearms in the hands of the law-abiding public. They create paper crimes because that is how they generate statistics.

Look at the situation with full-autos: not one single violent crime since 1934 with a LEGALLY-owned full-auto. So they created paper crimes, then used what 'might' happen.... and everybody fell for it. Bingo! No more full-autos.
Next it was the turn of the smaller handguns, the .25s and the .32s. They all became 'evil' to Canadians, despite the fact that they came off a California Socialist politician's hate-list. The banning of these has nothing to do with controlling crime: it has EVERYTHING to do with controlling PEOPLE.

Then the FAL became a 'terrorist weapon', despite the fact that no terrorist organisation in the world uses the FAL as its standard weapon. This one really ticks off a lot of people, including myself, because we were trained to use the FAL in order to protect the very same politicians who now say that we can't be trusted to use one. Just for public information, the terrorist training camps which I attended were at CFS Vernon and CFB Shilo. By the way, they both are still in business, but now with the C7, C8, C9 et cetera. What is this going to do to all those black-and-green rifles that a lot of you guys shoot? Guaranteed it will be 'discovered' that they, too, now are 'terrorist weapons'.

There is only ONE thing we can do, and it has very little to do with trying to intellectualise our way around/through/past idiot 'regulations' which are put in place by the paranoid, the control-freaks and the unknowing..... and interpreted by judges who are political appointees who are 'just obeying orders'. Seems to me that Roland Frieseler just obeyed orders, too.

We have a Government right now which is utterly HATED by all three television networks, every daily and most weekly papers in Canada, and by every magazine that has anything even approaching a national circulation. This Government is also doing a pretty decent job and it would do a lot MORE for US if it had a majority.

We need to GET INVOLVED politically, at a Constituency level, on a Party basis.... and show the muscle that we SHOULD have. We did it here in Manitoba, a number of years ago: we destroyed the career of a Solicitor General who lied to us; THEN we destroyed his Federal career as well.

That's what WE can do when we use our NUMBERS and our VOTES.

Think about it.

That's really what it's about eh? The best defence is a good offence, and we're seeing that right now with bill C-391 gaining gradual public support. Two years ago you would NEVER have heard support in the newspapers and on tv for a bill abolishing the long gun registry. Now people are getting fed up with the useless waste of their tax money, the politicials are starting to stick to their guns (pun intended) and the news sources and public opinion are starting to openly acknowledge that criminals might be the true ones to blame.
