I have a 38 rf revolver that i made some reloadable shells for from 38 colt brass. they use 27 cal ramsets and she fired them well however i had the bullets fall out of the shells from the recoil. I'm planning on rechambering it to 17HM2 with chamber adaptors, I'm aware that ill be riding 11 000 PSI above the rating however the camber adaptors will be able to tolerate the pressure, although I might stretch the frame if I shoot it too often. I'm aware of a few of these conversions and I would like to know if there's anything I missed. I was told to rechamber to 22 mag however I've fired 22lr out of 22 mags with no issues so I don't want to risk criminal charges.

Bottle neck brass can set back and jam your cylinder. So you may end up being able to fire off only some rounds before the cylinder won't turn any more... I know I'm not explaining this very clearly sorry! But this happens in some cases... This is generally why you don't see many revolvers using bottleneck cartridges...
I think it happens if the chambers are not tight enough but I'm not sure and in my experience is a bit of a luck of the draw. So if I run into that I start over with new inserts into the cylinder chambers... It's annoying. I would only do this if the cylinder is not long enough to accommodate 22mag. Maybe you'll get lucky or you are a better machinist than me
22mag on the other hand is straight walled and doesn't suffer from this problem. It is significantly different from 22lr - it will not chamber in a 22lr chamber and 22lr casings whrn used in a 22mag chamber will get blown out. I would mot be concerned about the antique status of a gun chambered in 22mag, but If you are, you can always get the rcmp lab to issue an antique status letter for it.

The cylinder is exactly 30 mm so a 22 mag wont fit. Im looking for chamber reamers and i cant find a set for 17HM2 or 22mag. I could trim the cases but that seams like too much work. I also thought of making chamber adapters for 22lr but my mini lathe is a huge pain to use, the 32rf cases took me a good 5-10 minutes a piece. Those were loaded with 27 cal level 3 ramsets and it looked like it was shooting way too hot for the gun. I might load 38 cal balls next time and seal the ends with a little beeswax to aid in sealing and lubrication.
