Hey everyone,

I recieved my Tax return and ATT all in the same day. Now what? I have already spent part of it on a new Stag Arms AR15+3 mags and want to get my first handgun with my remaining balance. My question is what would you buy if you had a budet of 800$-900$? Keep in mind this will be my first handgun and I was thinking of something in 9mm, possibly a Glock 17 or starting small with a Sig Mosquito. Let me know what you think.

Go with 9mm, if you are new to HGs, visit DVC for $30 (day pass) and rent the guns you'd consider... then make your choice.

Pay attention to sights, grip and control of the gun. Think of it this way (for the first HG) - "What should I get if I am to have only ONE handgun?".
 
CZ Shadow SP-01.... you wont find a better 9mm to start with... I dont care what anyone says..
 
Sounds like you had a good day there mildcustom!! My 1st HG was a M+P9 but for the kind of money your talkin' about i'd go with Merllin and get the shadow.
 
I have a MP-9 and love it, little less expensive but means you can get a case of ammo too! The only thing I wish is I bought the MP-40 cause you can get a 9mm barrel for it. the swich is cheeper and easier.

Think of what you want to do with it besides put holes in paper. If you shoot PPC only certain guns work in duty pistol. If you shoot IDPA I'm pretty sure you can run what you brung.

No matter what you get you'll love shooting handguns.
 
Well I made the big purchase and bought my first handgun......... well ok I am buying two. I bought a Glock 17 and I am also getting a Steyr M9-A1. Also thinking about getting a mosquito too but will wait until I get the other two. I am sooooooooooooooo excited and cant wait to get out there and start shooting. The best part is that my girlfriend is getting right into this. Took her for her first time shooting last weekend and she was hooked. Shes more of a .22 girl cause she dosnt like the larger calibre guns, her assets kind of get in the way. LOL. She is definitely a handgun girl though.

This will be the first 9mm I will buy, without a doubt. I was in WSS trying a few pistols on for size, when the salesman passed me an SP-01, both the tactical and shadow. I couldn't believe just how good they felt in my hand, it was like an extension of my body. I know pistol preference is a largely individual thing, but there is a LOT of value in these guns, especially if you go for the shadow. I would prefer the tactical's sights, or some other form of adjustable target sights on the shadow (not a huge fan of the fibre-optics), but other than that, I would be hard pressed to find anything else to criticize.
