really sorry if this has been asked before but i purchased my first rifle today its an sks. it has the tacticool kit on it. i want to go shoot it and sight in the scope. can i just go do this in the middle of nowhere? i thought i read that i need a permit to go and do this, but i cant find it anywhere so maybe i imagined it.lol. also when i take it out of my gun cabinet should i have a trigger lock on it. i know these are really dumb questions but i cant seem to find the info anywhere. once again sorry if this is a repeat

Check your local regulations to answer the first question but your second question is in the CFSC manual and would have been covered in your course and/or tests. When in doubt, go above and beyond what is expected so that wyatt can't cause you anymore problems than they already do. I always have my ammo in a locked container and firearms trigger/action locked during transportation just simply to avoid any hassles. I also carry a printout from the RCMP website on the storage and transportation regulations just in case I run into an ignorant police officer. When in doubt, go above and beyond what is required.

sorry i guess the trigger lock is a no brainer. the regulations the instructor told me about were this: 300 yards from the nearest dwelling and 1000 yards from the nearest school. im in newfoundland. i'm like 85% sure i read that i need a permit to go sight my rifle in the off season. thanks for the quick response. not really sure where i could check my local regulations other than the rcmp

You could Google your town name, for example "Kelowna firearms laws".
There might be areas that are barred, sound or season limits, that sort of thing.
If in doubt, a call to city hall might not be a bad idea. :)

(I know some provinces have limits too, but don't know any for Newfoundland off the top of my head. Google that too!)
