Trying to get a load using 250 gr Bergers in my 338wm. Not having much luck. Lol. Anyone got a recipe they like? I've got imr 4831,imr 4350 and imr 7828.

Thanks

Can you seat to the lands? In a general sort of way boat-tail and VLDs like to be on or into the lands. That's not engraved in stone, but if you have to jump them the odds drop way down. Berger used to be pretty adamant about this before they discovered that there was more market in the magazine fed crowd.

If you've already tried three powders there's a good chance you either have to change the bullet or the way you're using it. IMR 4350 is a great powder in the .338. I don't know where they find the loads in the Berger manual sometimes. 63.8 isn't even a starting load in some manuals. When I do use 250s my load is 68 grains which is max in Nosler. I get 2800 even in a 26" barrel. Hodgdons has their max at 69.5. for about 2700. Work up, bla, bla you know the rest.

Got them as long as I can go. I took'er up to 64 but maybe I'll keep going and see what happens. I didn't try my other powders because I figured that IMR 4350 would be a good one. Trying them in a Tikka 695 with 26" pipe.
