Recipe for 9mm 124 grain hard cast Lead Bullet with Unique.

Hello Folks,
looking for a good plinker load with the above mentioned components. It's for a Glock 17 with Lone Wolf barrel.
My Pet load for 124grain Berry's is 4.8 grains at 1.145" OAL. I think that might work for hard cast as well ?!

Your inputs would be appreciated!

I've used up to 5.1 with a 120 hard cast with no issues...

YMMV, caveat emptor, approach with caution, objects in the mirror are closer than they appear, and all other precautions apply...
 
I would try the same charge that you have used in the past with the plated bullet. Seating depth may require adjustment to fit your chamber.
 
4 gr of Unique is a very accurate load under my 125 gr cast bullets. Should work for you as well. Should make PF if you are into IDPA/IPSC shooting.

What type of bullet are you using? 4 gr of Unique drives my Lyman 356402 bullet 1038fps and certainly is adquate to cycle a CZ85. a Hi-Power and a 5" Tanfoglio.

FYI the Lyman Pistol & Revolver Handbook lists the maximum load at 4.5 gr of Unique under 125 gr lead bullet.

Lyman's manual quotes 5 gr of Unique to be naximum for a 121 gr bullet. For a new reloader I would approach maximum charges with caution. Unique doesn't meter all that well out of most powder measures and it is very easy to jump over max. Your gun and your fingers.

There is a reason why different bullet types have loading ranges. The OP asked about cast lead bulets and you are quoting loads for jacketed bullets! He wants a good plinking load. 4. gr of Unique will give him that and his gun will certainly cycle.
