Recipe for Moosemilk ball patch lube.......

3 oz NAPA auto parts # 765-1526 soluble cutting + grinding oil,2oz Murphy's oil soap,1 oz Witch Hazle,8 oz of 91% Isoprpyl Alcohol and 16 oz of water.Excellant lube for patched roundball.Soak a strip of ticking/cloth and dry it on a window screen before use.......................Harold

The NAPA auto parts # 765-1526 is not a Canadian one as my local Branch cant find anything under that number anyone have the right one?

1 oz murphys oil soap

The recipe is simple, just make sure the moose doesn't fall on you! Be extra careful with a bull.

So do I just squeeze the moose out of the soaked patches or let them dry somewhat? lol I have everything I need to mix a batch up now and 100 patches to start.

I use the same one I got from the puch bowl years ago 1/4 windex some dish soap and water works great cuts fowling fast . I use as lube on patches but only for range use. for a lube for hunting I use bore butter worked into the patch.

My recipe is 60% neatsfoot oil 40% pure beeswax melted together and then allowed to cool. It can also be used as a bullet lube in a 50%/50% blend.
I found this recipe in an old skool muzzleloading book pre bore butter.

Wet enough to be able to easily squeeze it out, (but don't), best way to describe , is if you are having difficulty loading after a few shots , your patches are too dry.Of course if they are sopping wet, it run into your powder.
That make sense ?

Here's mine.
The Isopropyl alcohol is a must, unless you like wiping mold into the grooves of your barrel.

Wiping fluid.

10% mix of NAPA Water Soluble Oil and 80 % distilled water 5% Murphy’s Oil soap and 5% isopropyl alcohol.
