Reclaimed shot?

Lots of folks use reclaimed shot. It's no longer as round as it started out and patterns a little different, other than that, it will be just fine. Load it up and have fun. Keep in mind you won't have all #8 or all #7.5 , it's going to be a mix but close enough for most.

Before you reload any reclaimed shot pass a strong magnet over a thin layer of the shot. It will pick up any unwanted steel shot. Add a bit of motor mica to your reclaimed shot and you will be good to go.
 
I just picked 3 bags of this up as well, the magnet is an idea i had as well but I am unsure what motor mica is or what it will accomplish. Unless it serves the same purpose as graphite powder.

There was a company that was for hire that you could get to come in and reclaim it from your clay ranges. I will ask at the club this weekend and report back.

I saw a company in Ontario that was selling lead shot by the 200L barrel I think, I wonder if its any cheaper...I can't remember who they were?
 
Some reclaimed shot would be fine, others, not so much...
Henry Nierychlo has/had some that was reclaimed from a range that had a very fine sandy soil. I bought a couple hundred lbs from him, to use as ballast (great guy to deal with, BTW), he'd even experimented with washing the shot, in water and detergent, to try and get a product he'd shoot... When I last asked, he was still selling it as ballast or as casting material.
