I was taking a sxs apart and I went to set the action and stock down and well I missed the bench a bit and it fell. As a reaction I grabbed for it and inadvertently tripped the trigger. Now one barrel is locked and one has been fired. I can not get the foreand back on to recock it
How do I recock it now? I tried pushing it against a wood bench with no movement and I didnt want to force it any further

I have not had that occur, but I can see it happening! I think my approach would be to figure out how that side was to get re-cocked if it were re-assembled and duplicate that - maybe that takes considerable pressure to do - or perhaps that is really finicky about the "angle of attack"?

Is it a JP Sauer classic by chance? I was trying to reassemble one and no way it would go. We had to push both cocking levers against a wooden post to recock it. Are you pushing the right way on the lever?

It's a huglu 200ace sideplate. Not sidelock. It has the dogs out the front of the action. The fired one is solidly in position. The cocked one moved freely.
It was just a reaction to grab it so it didnt fall on the floor.
Maybe I just didnt push hard enough. Figured id ask first. The barrels rotating down would push downward on those dogs. The gun is stiff to #### with the barrels on as it sets the ejectors as well. Very strong ejectors

I had a different huglu brought to me in that condition, i had to remove the buttstock and manually #### the hammers, i could not get it to #### with the dogs. Maybe I didn't push hard enough, but i pushed very hard.

Well i got the stock off. Turns out screws come out easily in newer guns. I didnt bugger anything out. However I can move that hammer. Im under the belief I should undue that screw on the tang to relieve the coil springs which should take pressure off the hammers. However im unsure id ever be able to get the springs back in place.

All is good now well so far
I wedged a screwdriver in between the hammer top and the frame and it loosened the dog leg just enough for the foreend to reattach.
Just a matter of putting the stock back on now and realligning the engraved screws

Don't be undoing any more screws...

Since you have the butt stock off, simply c o c k the damn hammer... stick a punch in that hole and c o c k it.

You didn't have to remove the stock though. Just more pressure on the little "lever" sticking out of the action.

I put my full body weight on it to the point it was marring the angle iron I was pushing it against.
Trying to cawk it using that hole proved unsuccessful. I couldn't hold the action squarely while pulling on. Without the stock coming off I would not have been able to get it cawked. The side plates and trigger gaurd screw into the stock.

You appear to be a disaster waiting to happen. I am assuming you do not have a padded vise to hold a firearm when working on it. Take it to a gun shop and have them c o c k it. Then assemble it and leave it alone.

Good you got it done the hammer springs in that gun must be heavy duty they will soften up with the amount of shooting you do. (y)
