Recoil Key/picatinny mounting question

I'm not a new shooter, but this is probably a pretty green question. I just realized when searching for new rings for a scope that there's this thing called a "recoil key" or "cross lug" depending on the ring maker. The last scope I installed was on my Tikka Tac with TPS rings, I was just recently told to push the rings forward to lock them against the horizontal Picatinny rail grooves to prevent slip under hard recoil. The bases are on at 60 in/lbs as per TPS requirements, is this really an important thing to do ? Should I take all my scopes off and re-mount them? I'm running a .308 with a brake so not sure if the recoil is high enough to warrant this.

Thanks guys in advance. Funny how I've never come across this before, I just throw them on, make sure the torque is right and fire away.

Gimmick. Proper torqueing and moving the ring forward against the rail is fool proof.

But, they'll sell them on that feature, so good on 'em.

I think that's my question, do I have to move the ring forward against the rail? I believe I just throw them on, torque em and go.

Ideally, you push the front ring against the front of the rail slot... and the rear ring towards the rear of the rail slot.

This jams the rings and scope so nothing can move fore or aft.

If you have rings with these lugs, may as well use them as designed.
