Recoil of a Browning X-Bolt in 375 H&H

You'll be fine.

I have the A bolt SS in .375 H&H at close to the same weight. It is a manageable amount of recoil but sitting at the bench with heavy loads, you will definitely begin to feel it around 10-12+ rounds.

Standing and shooting at live game, about 20-25 rounds makes for a very full day.

Work up a load and shoot it lots. Recoil is nothing to sneeze at but it's not to bad if your an experienced shooter. Mine like a case full of Reloader 15 and a hornady 270gr.

Just ran some new 250 grain GMX loads through the chrony...2810fps......still lots of room in the case....lol Recoil off the sticks was very manageable...not even bad off the bench.

To the OP - I shot a box of 300grn DGX through my 375 Ruger Alaskan yesterday from the bench. The first 10 or so were fine, the last few were starting to hurt. The ol'shoulder is still a little tender today. I don't think the 375 was meant to shoot targets.....It was meant to hunt. You won't even notice the recoil when you squeeze the trigger on your animal. It just might take a bit of time to get a second shot together if needed.
 
My X-Bolt .375 H&H Stainless Hunter weighs 8.6 lbs with the scope and full mag. The first time I had it to the range, I lasted 6 shots off the bench before I put it away. I upgraded the recoil pad to a "Kickeze" pad and bought myself a strap-on sissy pad. I can shoot it for 20 rounds off the bench now (using 300 gn bullets in Federal factory ammo). Shooting it from a standing position, I don't need the strap-on pad, just rock back with the recoil.
Fun to shoot, but not off the bench as they come from the factory. Kicks about like my Ruger #1 .45/70 with max 350 grain loads.
 
i have an xbolt medallion in 30-06 and every time i shoot it from the bench it feels like its going to jump out of my hands lol, i can only imagine what the 375 is like. they are very light rifles, it hardly seems heavier than my BL-22.

This 375 is very light indeed, that's the only point that stressed me.
As I don't need it right now, I'll just wait a little more.

But this is my next purchase :)
 
Depending on the balance and the design of the stock you could also look at putting in one or two recoil reducers. You could easily add a pound this way. I have used the Edwards spring type. I just do not like the idea of carrying around a portable environmental disaster with the mercury versions.
 
I can't finish a whole box from my Ruger No.1 .375 H&H in one session. My cheek gets bruised and once my shooting eye went blurry for a while due to bad posture.
 
My neighbour made me sight in his T/C Prohunter in .375 H&H. Off the bench it was not fun at all, and it weighs about the same, but it had a heavy scope on it. Mi would say that having the scope kiss me was more what bothered me. With no scope, I would say it would be fine. I personally love, love, love the .375 for hunting! A true, short of varminting, do-all cartridge.
