Recoil Pad for Yugo Mauser?

When installing a regular recoil pad, you SAW an inch or so from the Butt in order to keep the length of Pull right.

You do NOT want to do this to a collectible rifle.

I would suggest a Large size (to get over the buttplate) slip-on type.

You can get one at any decent gun shop, about $15.

Problem solved..... and you haven't spent $75 AND knocked $150 off the value of the rifle.

A proper Shooting Jacket will do the same job and give you a zillion pockets for Magazines, Score Books and such at the same time.

smellie basically said it all. I'll just add that a PAST recoil shield is another good option. It's what I use when shooting off the bench with heavy kickers or during long range sessions. You can wear it over just about any clothing and most importantly there is no modifications to a collectible and historical firearm.

I use a slip on Limbsaver pad for all my milsurps because they are all way too short LOP for my taste and to take some of the sting out of those steel buttplates. I think I have the large size one, it fits everything I have but is a bit loose on the small SKS butt plate.

What do you think is good pad for Moisin 91/30? My measurment of Moisin butt tellas me I should go with small size, but measuring and actually tring it on are two different things.

I don't want a recoil pad myself for mine but shooting it again for the first time in a while makes me realize that I need to find a way to put some kind of anti slip pad on the back of the butt plate.

It is like trying to keep a teflon frying pan in your shoulder when you hold the thing lol The sharp cut angle right on top doesn't help either.

Not to hijack but while near the topic, anyone have any suggestions?

Use a piece of pond liner from a garden centre (20 mil) and use double sided tape. The size of the pieces you need you might get it for free.

Good idea. Thanks, I will give this a try.

I was debating a thin piece of tacky rubber also but I don't want to have to glue it on or mess with the rifle permanently.

To the OP, I hear you on the recoil lol 8mm in a bolt gun with a short barrel is brutal but it's part of the fun  lol
