Recoil pad selection

The rifle is a 30-06 rem 700 mountain rifle with a bansner sheep hunter stock. I'm going for under 6.5 lbs with scope and rings, haven't decided how much machining I am going to do yet so it might be lighter than that. If everything works out I will be shooting a 165 gr bullet with a good shot of powder behind it.

What do you guys think? I'm tying to decide if I really need a nice cushy recoil pad on my new rifle or just a bare minimun lightweight jobbie. I love the limbsavers, most of my remmies have the R3 but they are heavier than the alternative. Kind of defeats the purpose of a Sheep hunter stock and then slap a heavy pad on it eh?
Althought I think the difference is only a few ounces, weight is weight and it all adds up!!!!

What do you guys think about pad selection, and does anyone know what different pads weight?

Thanks
