I was wondering if putting on a limbsaver would really help me when using my uncles savage 300 win mag. I think I'm anticipating the recoil and it is throwing off my shots a bit, 3" groups at 100 yards. so would throwing on one of these really make a huge difference??

you have a flinch.

buy a .308.

and bring oneness to your shooting life.


(and yes, the limbsaver is king, my .450 and 3.5" 12ga tell me this.)

i already got a .308 win to predictable for me after a few thousand rounds it is no challenge any more. and I'm not flinching i shake when I'm about to pull the trigger i see it in the scope, my head dose not move at all.
Oh westicle i can shoot MY MY MY MY M-305 :D every shot in a 1.5" group with open sights at 100 yards so i don't need to step down in order to step up lol

FLINCH...............!

stick to your .308 if you can shoot that strait. nothing on Van islands needs anything more powerful. or much baring g-bears or bison on the mainland......

You are flinching. Denial is the first stage. Maybe you need to grab a .22 and practice, practice, practice. A .300WM may be more than you can handle. It's not something you should be ashamed of.

Listen to Amphib, he is correct. You have a flinch when firing the 300WM. It's too much to handle.

You could stick a recoil pad on and it may help, but really you should go back and shoot your .308 some more.

Amphib knows all about flinching these days...........;) :cool:
 
sounds like a flinch defintly put the limbaver on and see what it does try useing a good heavy rest when shooting the evil paper targets if that doesnt help get a 22 and admit you cant handle the bigun's

Its hard to say, those south islanders are pretty tame folk. Up here we're much tougher. I like steel but plates on my magnums. And I shoot with a tee shirt 12 months of the year:cool:

How about this, buy a few hundred rounds and shoot shoot shoot till I do not flinch anymore. I had a terrible flinch when I first bought my 308 but after a few hundred shots i got use to the recoil, the gun, and everything about it. but the first thing is to get a linbsaver and try that before i give up on the 300.

You could also get a past recoil shield for bench shooting, cheaper than a limbsaver and nothing to install. Once she is sighted in just shoot offhand and your flinch might go away, also make sure you have good hearing protection.

wow. a few hundred rounds of .300mag? you have deeper pockets then I!

seems like a huge waste of money when you already have a rifle in a perfectly suitable hunting caliber.

Not too mention the Flinch in all likelyhood will get worse from that.....not better ;)

You are not there yet.
When you can go 10 rounds in leass than MOA and call every shot then you can say you know your irons.
There is nothing wroong with the .308 either, I shoot one more than anything.
And yes, if you can anticipate the recoil or trigger break, see the crosshairs shaking, or or if you cannot call your shot after you have fired, you have a flinch.
Get a buddy to load the rifle for you , loading a dummy orund occasionally without letting you know.
This is thhe only way of getting rid of a flinch, unless you just plain cannot handle the rifle, a condition of which no shame is attached unless bull#### and excuses follow......
