Recoil Pads Question

Ah Limb savers , a great invention to be sure, Iuse the slip on models all the time, due to the fact I'm 6'5" I just need the xtra L O P on most guns, and for recoil absorption they have no equal, Kick-Eze would be the 2nd best pad, IMO, Pachmeyer, do offer a good quality product but no where near as spongee as LS products.FS

Are the limbsavers grindable?

I used the Kick-eeze and it worked very well. They are easy to grind to shape with a fine grit belt on a bench mounted belt sander.

they have grindable models, go on their website and it is there. sir also lists the three sizes and what you can grind them down to in their catalog.

Yes the Simms Limbsaver (R3's) are grindable. Go slow ... if you are having trouble with the material "smearing" (too much heat build-up) your belt speed is probably too fast. If you cant slow it down, put the pad in your freezer for a couple of hours ... mount it then grind it cold.

Put one (Limbsaver) on a Ruger No. 1 in 45-70 ... makes it quite bearable with stiff loads. Made sure the original Ruger (hard like a hockey puck) pad never sees the light of day again. Have Pacmayr Decelerator Old English pads on virtually all of my other guns. Tried Kick-Eez - didn't like them at all.

I tried a limbsaver on a buddy's 19 inch 870 - really took all the 'bite' out of the slugs. Really quite a noticeable difference.

The one I tried may not have been one , cause it was soft and you could move it side to side, and a hard plate attached to the gun stock, weird, but totally took the bite out of the recoil.

Sounds more like a decellerator pad that pachmyer makes.
