There are several recoil pads for shotguns on the market that have a hard section on the comb to mitigate that .You bring a rifle to the shoulder with a soft rubber pad compare to a hard one or a plastic but plate and the soft rubber pads are not as smooth to come up, catches/grabs a bit more the clothings I find!
The Pachmayr pads don't seem to be readily available where as the Limbsavers seem to have many popular models available amdbready for shipping in Canada.I only have one rifle with a limbsaver. I works great, but has that gummy bear texture, which is unorthadox to my favorite recoil pad, the Pachmayr decelerator.
The Calgary Shooting Center in Calgary has a good supply of the Pachmayrs. The Pachmayr pads don't seem to be readily available where as the Limbsavers seem to have many popular models available amdbready for shipping in Canada.
Those Old English are my all time favorite. There might be better but they are very good pads and look good on a classic gun.Find the Pachmayr Old English style pads better looking but not as effective as they don't have the same internal construction.

Bought a softer recoil pad for my Remington 700 Classic in 30 06 circa 1989 , but have yet to install . I might have to get the stock shortened but for some reason that just bothers the hell out of me .
Guess I’ll probably just put up with the stock Remington pad that came with the rifle and if I need to do a lot of shooting to try out other ammo I’ll just wear a thicker coat
