My old Parker Hale 300 WinMag needs a new recoil pad. What do you consider to be the best ? I'm thinking Kick Ease or a Sims Limb Saver. The Kick Ease uses Sorbothane. The Limb Saver doesn't say anything about Sorbothane so I assume they use something else. They advertise their 3-Step Technology. What would be your choice and why ? Experience is always the best. You know what they say about opinions.

I like the Pachmayr Decelerator series recoil pads as they absorb recoil well, stand up to regular use, look good and are relatively easy to grind. I especially like the Old english pad for both its appearance and recoil absorption.

Me too ... and have tried many others over the years, including Simms & Kick-Eez.

Pachmayr make a good product.
I bought a Kick-Eez and though they work, I think are butt fuggly.
There is one hanging in it's original packaging on a nail out in the shop.
Can't bear to put it on anything that it fits.

I use Pachmayr on any rifle I swap the pad on including my 9.3x62 and 416 Rigby. They work very well and are easier to grind to fit than the Limbsaver.

Kick eez work, but they're pretty fragile, the rubber likes to split/crack, and as double gun said, they don't grind well, I butchered one for a Tikka synthetic I had. I think Limbsavers absorb recoil better, but decelerators seem to be the most durable.

Thanks, I guess it will come down to what I can find. I remember years ago I put a Sorbothane pad on a rifle when it first came out and I do remember it being a pain to grind. Seems like it always wanted to ball up. Can't say it impressed me.

That's a good thread. Seems pretty much the same opinion now. I had a hard look at the pad on my rifle and it's really not bad. I've been working up some new loads for 300 Win. and shooting off a bench gets tiring. I'm just going to pick up a LimbSaver Slip On Pad for the range. I never even notice the rifle when I'm hunting.

I have some big kickers with the limbsaver and Pachmayr. Both help but the limbsaver is very gummy and often catches on my clothing so I prefer the Pachmayr

I hate recoil, but i am a big fan of the Limbsaver pad. I shoot a 9.3x62mm with 286 grain bullets. I can benchrest shoot and find it very comfortable and enjoyable to shoot.
Stock fit is also a big part of how the felt recoil is perceived.

Pretty hard to beat a red Decellerator on a classy rifle. :)
