Recoil Problems

I would like to mention one thing about Mausers you have to leave the mag alone even if you want to make a it a single shot. You can't just drop a round into the chamber and close the bolt, the extractor won't snap over the rim of the cartridge the round has to feed from the mag. Newer firearms don't have that problem. Just something to think about when you decide on a future purchase of a firearm to suit your needs.

Quite right. That's why I suggested foam under the follower. That way it will still depress so the cartridge can be slipped under the rails.

I first posted saying to use blue styrofoam, but it is a bit trickier to get the right fit, and the follower rattles around a bit. BTDT

Using a strong foam such as Ensolite takes care of that, and it does not absorb water in case the firearm gets wet.

How are those new Fusion cartridges? I pretty much only shoot pistols so i dont get to much Rifle time, but arent those new Fusion by Federal is it? Im not sure the brand but I saw a show that pretty much described these fusion cartridges give big stopping power with good distance without the punch. I think the caliber was .300 Fusion or something where it had qualities of the 303 I believe but felt like a .223 or something like that. Someone here surely knows the exacts and seeing i didn't read all the posts, someone might have already mentioned it. :ninja:

I got some Fusion for cheap from WSS when I bought my rifle, and I have been using the cheap Federal Powershok stuff for putting through paper. Seeing what that Fusion goes for, I should've saved it, but when ammo was getting a bit low, and my buddies still wanted to do some shooting, I busted the box out since I had it with me anyway. There was no noticeable difference in the amount of recoil at all. On the box, it makes no mention of reduced recoil. I think the only difference is the bullet construction. It talks highly of how the jacket is bonded to the bullet yada yada yada all over the box.

Disability..crutches...stick, and you still have the get up and go to pursue outdoor sport!
You have my admiration and I wish you all the best in your endeavours.
