I am trying to find a recoil reducer in Canada for shotguns. My old shoulders are starting to complain if they think I'm spending too much time at 5 stand, or on the trap field. Anyone have any info they could pass along? I did have an in stock type by Edwards on back order at Brownells for about six months' and they just cancelled the order saying their supplier would not be sending them any more. Tried emailing Edwrds direct, but havn't heard back from them. If this is in the wrong section Mods, please move. Thanks.

I apologize if I'm "Preaching to the Choir". I have to ask if you have had the gun fitted to you? We used to have to qualify - 50 rds - 1 1/4 OZ slugs - 3" magnum - and ten of those rounds were from prone. :sok2 Any flier was a disqualification and we dreaded having to restart. I took a wood rasp to the stock and but pad and it made a huge difference.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'd sooner spend a few hundred on stock fitting than on a recoil reducer. I have no experience with reducers.
 
brybenn, thanks for the lead, I'll follow up on that. Rob! and maifire. I shoot older SIACE and Sabatti shotguns. Both have been fitted to me, and I have used them for years. Neither one was built with a recoil pad, and I don't want to change the fit by adding one. I have beaten my body pretty badly over the years, and am pretty close to being on the wrong side of 75. I don't want to cut back on shooting, its one of the few things left that I can enjoy, I just want to reduce the discomfort a bit. Thanks again for the input.
 
I have used an isis recoil reducer (made in England) on a Caesar Guerini. It works well and hardly add any weight to the gun nor changes the balance. There is a thin recoil pad on it. You could also put a plastic butt plate.
 
Gracoils by Graco are awesome. Browning installs them at the factory on their Gold/Golden Clays trap guns. They are adjustable for lop up to 1.5” and the pad is adjustable up/down, left/right, canted angles and has adjustable recoil pressures to set up your comfort level based on the ammo you are shooting. They turn a 12 ga into a 22 when set up properly and can be shipped to Canada as they do not fall under the same classification as receivers barrels etc.

Can literally shoot all day long in a T-shirt. Of course doesn't hurt that it weighs 9 lbs. Softest shooting gun I own. Now about 40k rounds through it.
 
I will add to the Graco's list of positive comments. Without know what shell and load you are using have you tried going down to 1oz or 7/8 oz loads ?. Winchester also make a 960fps load that are extremely soft but pricey.
 
I was going to add lower pressure shells and shooting less weight will offset recoil. Or the other way is a set of sub gauge tubes. However that adds weight to the barrels but doesn't change the gun
 
I made one out of an old compound bow stabilizer. It was the type that had the fluid with springs and a weight inside. Cut it down to right length and cut the springs accordingly. Put springs and weight and fluid back in the cut tube and soldered the end on. I put in the middle of a Mossberg 535 with synthetic stock and packed foam tight all around it to keep it from moving. It actually made a huge difference in recoil which was especially noticable when using the slug barrel or shooting 3 1/2".
