Anyone using an ati talon 6 position with scorpion recoil grip and buttpad? Are they effective? Other recommendations? Putting on a moss 535 to help take the sting out of 3.5" shells.

I don't know about the ATI stock that you're referring to, but I've used a Knox stock and didn't notice much of a difference at all. Proper stance and shooting technique will take much of the "sting" out of shooting higher power shells. Unfortunately, this does nothing to take the "sting" out of the pocketbook! :p

Others with more experience may have more credible opinions.

if anyone is using any type of recoil reducing stock please let me know if they are effective or just a gimmick.

I was talking with a guy at our range that had just picked up a new Benelli, I think, in 30-06 that had the recoil reduction system in the stock and grip. Apparently it reduced to the felt recoil down to that similar of a .243. I didn't fire it so I can't say for certain, but he stated that there is a significant difference.

I have the knoxx comp stock, I don't like pistol grips, it works really well. It definately makes a huge difference. There is really no down side with a pump gun because it does not effect the action. I could see them causing semi's to be less reliable.

I've seen that people have mixed feelings about those. Some of them like it a lot. I think it's worth trying at least - it may work for You. I never noticed much difference between solid, wood stock with good recoil pad and this, plastic recoil-reducing stock to be perfectly honest. I don't like the pistol grip as well.
