I use the model "D" factory Beretta hammer spring, like many of you and it definitely was nicer for double action pulls. It has never given a problem either.
now, back to the original topic, the recoil spring. I went a different way. I put in a complete DPM aftermarket recoil reduction system. Its a rod and 3 different springs, all captured in one unit. It makes it easier(yes its possible) to disassemble and reassemble. It makes the muzzle rise less and follow up shots faster, and it makes felt recoil less. I also assume it puts less wear and tear on the pistol as the slide doesn't smack into the frame directly now.
it is a bit harder to rack the slide, but other than that, its great. it also looks nice as there is a wee bit of stainless at the tip of the pistol
