I was using the Shoot ballistics program and was happy to find that the recoil on my BLR 270 win was 18.74 ft/lbs using 150 grain bullets and my M-1000 Eclipse in 7mm WSM using 140 grain bullets is only 15.32 ft/lbs. The BLR weighs 7.25 lbs and the Eclipse is 10 lbs. I would hate to see what those super lite rifles kick like using magnum calibres.

I had a 300 wsm that weighed less than 8 lbs scoped for a while, I don't have it anymore. It was a handful off the bench, but fine in the field.

I found that since I got scoped with the blr, I flinch when shooting targets. Would a scope with a longer eye relief help? I got a Bausch and Laumb 2x7x32 on it. This is the only gun that I got scoped with and the only one I flinch with while shooting targets.

shoot a 7.5 lb 221 Fireball, with a 40 gr @ 3150 f/s over 18.5 grs powder :D 2 ft-lbs recoil. It is brutal, but if I focus I can overcome it.

HA HA HA! Shouldn't you be getting ready for coyote hunting. From what i have seen you got quite a few. It is an addiction. Calling them in is more fun than shooting them in my opinion.

Recoil is very personal experience.
Some guys cry when they have to shoot .30-06
but not mind to play with a 12ga. shotgun whole day :)

I shoot a 10 gauge for geese. I got a 7mm WSM. They don't seem to bother me. That 270 win BLR bit me twice and I flinch every time I use it on targets. Shooting deer I don't notice it of course. All I know is that if it was my old 303 I would have been going for stitches. The older scope doesn't have the rubber ring on the eye piece.

Yoodledog,
I'll carry my old scope scars forever, but not one of them is from a Leupold. None, zero, nada. That's the way I want to keep it. I can't think of a quicker way to get a flinch than to get hit in the head with a piece of pipe.
