Recomendations on a scope for an SKS?

They're a little more rare these days, but if you can find one of the older model 1-4x bushnells it's pretty well perfect for an sks, if not a 2.5x or 4x would work well, or even a 1x red dot.
 
I had a 4-12x40 Nikon prostaff on my SKS before I switched to a better optic system, but during that time, it was a excellent scope for the money, had clear glass, easy to use turrets, 30yr warranty... all for $240 CAD.
 
I've got a red dot on one and a 3.5 power PU style scope on the other, honestly I would like to put a 3x9 one the one and put the 3.5x on something else. A bit more magnification would be nice, I have it mounted on a gen2 magwedge so I can't use strippers anyway. The red dot sits on a gen3 and can use stripper clips.

I'll likely put a 3x9 Nikon prostaff with a bdc reticle on it at some point, great scope for what you pay for it.

A solid mount, and decent scope will just make you aware of the lack of accuracy the sks has. It is a wonderfully rugged gun, but has 3-5 moa, particularly with cheaper ammo. A red dot with a 3 moa reticle is perfect, feels bang on every time!
 
For hunting and seeing your tagets down range I always prefer to have a higher power available if needed. But of course this totally depends o the type of shooting ur doing with an SKS
 
Thaks for the suggestions, it's not to get much more range, just so I can see the target better. Even 100 yards can be be hard to see some targets. I have a good red dot already on my other sks, just trying something a little different.

What I was going to suggest. The cartridge and rifle are not good beyond 300 (nor are most shooters - and ranges). So don't sink mega$$ in something beyond your needs.

Secondly, too much scope might conflict with the loading and ejection.

That's exactly what I have on one of mine and it's a huge improvement over the stock irons, if you want to see your groupings at 100yds though it's just not enough sometimes and I have real good eye sight. It's a fixed 3.5 power, a compact 3x9 would be better. I have a 3x9 Nikon prostaff on my .22 bolt action and I can see my groupings nicely at 100yds shooting little .22lr, 7.62x39 holes would be easy to see.

I find the post reticle to be pretty bulky as well, my Nikon reticle has a much finer crosshair post.

I have a cheap 4x fixed scope which does help with getting a clear view of the target.

It's going on a Magwedge rail, I've modified the receiver so the shells kick to the side. Next mod will be a magwell adapter for easier loading.

That is a good suggestion and would go well with my other sks that has a Choate receiver mount but I'm looking for something longer that will compliment the Archangel stock and also justify the rail covering the action. I have a scout scope that is ideal for my build but it's poor quality. If I could find a long eye relief scout scope but better quality I'd be happy so if anyone knows where to acquire one...

Here is what the 4-12x40 Nikon prostaff looked like on my SKS.... it was a decent setup.

But then I went full Russian ...... and im much happier with this setup. 3-9x24 PO SVD mount.
