Surefire 640DF pro… you won’t find a better more durable light… I’m waiting for the new turbo to come out and my 640 pro will move to my rifle and the Turbo going on the shorty…

I use mine for farm/Livestock defence and it throws usable light 300Yards.

I recently got the Surefire mini scout light pro (thanks Santa), the mount let’s you angle it in really close (not just standard offset) and it can be installed on Picatinny rail or M-lok (both were included and can be switched to left/right side). Also upgraded the tail cap to a tape switch.

I installed it but haven’t tested to see how it holds up in use, but am sure it’s solid. I just kinda wish I knew there’d be a turbo version coming out soon and may have waited for that lol.

Any rail mounted light from Streamlight or Surefire would do just fine but I find they add a little too much heft to the front end. I like to use a X300 as it is just a little more compact. If you are going to be putting it on a 870 or 500/590 I would really suggest going with the Streamlight Racker but I know you said you want it mag tube mounted. I would choose something that has the mounting solution integral as opposed to just popping a light into a scope ring as it adds a lot of bulk.

Airsoft recoil maybe.

I have cycled thru mag-tube mounted, Magpul forend rail mounted, the Streamlight Racker, and have finally ponied up for the Surefire DSF.

In the rifle world you can get away with mounting pistol lights to the weapon, and it will never cause you any issues. In my experience shotguns are simply too violent, and any kind of round count is going to rattle things loose.

I broke the Racker during a shotgun course, when the seam up the middle began to split during the repeated racking of the gun.

It is not cheap, but the Surefire is the way to go. Rock solid, and bomb proof.

What sort of mount are you using? I just picked up a 590 retrograde with 18-1/2” barrel a few days ago and am interested in adding a light as well. Been looking around the ‘net and have found the GG&G 590 flashlight mount and the CDM Gear MTR - Mossberg 590 Magazine Clamp with 3-Slot Rail/Flashlight Mount. But haven’t found a Canadian source for he former, and the only Canadian source I’ve found for the latter charges almost 3 times the US price. Any other options I could be looking at?
