can you please recommend a red dot on Ruger Mark IV tactical.
It's basically my daughter's gun (she is still a teenage). And she loves this gun every bit. A lot of fun to plink and relatively cheap ammos.
But she hates the black iron sight.
I am considering to add a red dot to enhance her experience.
Usually she shoots no more than 20-25 yards. So I guess 6 MOA at minimum?
The budget is between $500 to $700. Picatinny mount preferred since there is already a rail on top of the gun.

Thanks.

Burris fast fire or a Holosun HS407C-X2 Pistol Red Dot Sight - 2 MOA would be good. Holosun has quite a few good options in your budget with different reticle options.

mini-reflex type. I prefer smaller dots but you could get a bigger one as well if you wanted.

Fibre optic front sight is a good idea as well.

When I had my browning buckmark, I was running a utg leapers micro red dot, it was cheap but worked with no issues.

22lr doesn't have much kick, I would get a vortex micro red dot or burris fast fire as it is within your budget, also has lifetime warranty

can you please recommend a red dot ...

Do you want to spend this much? For a 22 pistol, you have plenty of good options at a much lower price point. Personally I'd get a cheaper dot and put the savings into the trigger.

I would go with a 3MOA or smaller dot for target and plinking.

I'll Echo with sticking with a 3MOA dot.

I got a Nikon Spur on my Buckmark, but I might switch it for a Burris Fastfire. I have a Venom as well but that is a spare for my comp CZ, as I switched to a Riton. But those 3 reddots are 250$+

Tube reddots as ugly as they are, I found easier for someone to find the dot. You can get 30-40$ from aliexpress that are great for 22s. I got a pile of 30mm tube sights that I love on my airguns.

vortex Venom or Viper (I can't believe I recommend Vortex)

They got excellent warranties. Mine broke on my comp gun 2 weeks before a match, and I had a replacement in a week. The day they received it, was the day they send the new one out.

I have both the Vortex venom and viper, the viper is a bit smaller, but you have to take the sight off to change the battery, they have super warrenty , Canadian.
I had a poor battery connection in one and they sent anew one right away. They run in the 325 to 350.oo range, one was on a 9mm slide and the venom is on my 45 1911 slide.
they are 6 mm dots, great for a steel challenge, But most of the time I shot bullseye targets, and a 3 mm dot would be better.
But in your case ,I would just paint the front sight with red paint, I do white than a light red, it works better than a dark red, pink is good.
I do have red and green fiber optic filament that I was going to try on a beretta 92f, as I could not see the front, but sold the gun.
I would not recommend a red dot for a new shooter, as learning to use open sights is key to good shooting, in my option , but I understand the red dot thing, they are great, but I don't shoot any better with one.
I picked up a no name auto on , auto brightness one on one of Switzers auction , it has a small dot.
while I have not used it , it looks like it would work fine, but my hands are such that I will not use it, unless things change for the better.

The world is your oyster with a $500-700 red dot or reflex budget.... specially if you go used and buy something with a transferable lifetime no questions warranty..... :)

I've bought a couple fastfire 2's from the EE for around $200 with picatinny mounts. A used vortex or Primary arms/ holosun is probably around $300-$400 depending on the model.

I feel Holosun 510c is an overkill, besides it is designed for rifle not pistol. It's quite a big footprint.
I looked at 507 or 508. they look elegant and I especially like the feature of solar power and double reticle.
