Of all the deer that I have shot with my .308 Winchester, none have used core lokt or jacket fused. Most have been Hornady 150 grain SP, but I have used others. Most of the time the bullet passes right through, and I have never seen any indications of jacket separation.
I would recommend that you select your preferred bullet weight and try any of the factory brands for best accuracy and price point for you, rather than obsessing about jacket separation.
