Recommend me my first handgun. I have about 4 I am interested in but always want to hear opinions. I have somewhat small hands which is important in the recommendation

For smaller hands
1911
M&P
Browning 1911-22
Browning 1911-380
CZ p07
CZ shadow 2
Glock 48

If you can find the ones that interest you in store and get them in your hands physically that is best.

There’s a million threads on this subject already.
There’s a few things you need to narrow down for any recommendations:
Caliber, price range, purpose, type of action etc.

For smaller hands, most single stack guns may work for you. Like Dan said, a 9mm 1911 is a good choice but you’re still dealing with a 100 year old design. The new Glock 48 has promise also.

But you need to give us some ideas before we can suggest anything. It’s like asking what car you should buy but it must be small.

It depends what interests you. Revolvers DA or SA, auto pistols, SA, DA, or striker fired, derringers, single shot bolt actions, Contenders, there's lots of different kinds of handguns. If I was starting a novice it would be with a K frame .38 Special or a .357 magnum loaded with .38 ammunition. I also advocate an entry to handloading at the same time that centerfire rifle or handgun shooting is contemplated.

Everybody is talking about the Glock 48.

You haven't provided sufficient information to even begin suggesting a "first handgun"
Sizing is something you will only be able to evaluate in person by actually holding the firearm.

I would however look at something in the series of rimfire handguns.. either revolver or semi auto. Easy to shoot and you are less likely to develop bad habits with a low recoil.

They are relatively inexpensive both to purchase and to shoot. The skill developed with this calibre will transfer nicely to any subsequent purchases.. and this will likely be only the first of many... Holding on to a 'first gun' can be very satisfying.

I still have the Ruger Mark I I bought in the 70's and it is still fun to shoot and is nice to look at and think of the time I've spent at the range with it.

I started with a Ruger mark III 22/45, then immediately went to a Beretta 96A1 and Ruger GP100. The Ruger .22 mainly stays in the safe. For .22 plinking, I normally use a Beretta model 70.

Browning buckmark. Perfect for small hands, super high quality pistol, easy to clean, and the 22lr caliber means you get to shoot 500 rounds/day without breaking the bank. It was my first handgun, and it's still one of the best in my collection. I have pistols that have costed me twice as much, 3 times as much, even 4 times as much in the case of my desert eagle, and the buckmark is still one of my "main".

Buy your best on wish list gun as first gun.

Or you will end up buying first and second guns you will sell after :)

You will want to start with a 22 and/or 9mm to save on cost.
If you plan on shooting in cold weather, a polymer gun is much less harsh on the hands.
Metal framed pistols are generally more accurate and usually come with a much nicer trigger out of the box

Ruger mark IV is kind of the benchmark .22, accurate but ugly
For 9mm in metal frame i like a Sig p226
For 9mm in polymer frame I like m&P 2.0 and Glock 17/19/19x/48

I recently bought my GF the Browning 1911/22 because of her arthritis and very small hands and she absolutely loves it. Says it fits her perfectly and it’s a great little gun.
